Montréal Pride is dedicated to defending LGBTQ rights, promoting our cultural wealth and celebrating our social advances. Working day-to-day, Montréal Pride supports local LGBTQ communities while serving as a beacon of hope for people around the world living in LGBTQ-hostile areas.
From August 10 to 20, 2017, the festival’s special Canada Pride Montréal 2017 edition will be featured as part of the official programming of Montréal’s 375th celebrations and Canada 150 festivities. It will offer more than 150 activities and events, with something for everyone.
Montreal’s 375th anniversary
The city’s foundation : on May 17th, 1642 (officially on the 18th)
Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, Jeanne Mance and their group inhabited the island and got settled at the place now know as the Pointe‐à‐Callière museum, in Old Montreal. Maisonneuve officially took possession of the island in the name of the Société de Notre‐Dame de Montréal, whose founding member Jérôme Le Royer de La Dauversière instigated the project
The duality between French and English caused a few conflicts in the ensuing years. Today, it is now what makes Montreal one of the most emblematic cities of Canada and Quebec. It is also an important city in all of North America.
On May 17th, 2017, we will celebrate the city’s 375 year of history and evolution, so come out and celebrate a year filled with events and festivities.
